Meet: Tricia Lee

Hi Tricia! What is your expertise in?
I am a Visual Designer that specializes in branding, social and illustrations. I always take a playful approach and create thoughtful designs.

How did you get here? What steps did you take to end up here?
I’ve always been creative and would doodle when I was young. However, I didn’t have the knowledge that I do now about the avenues that you can take when you are looking for a career path. I was in a production role when I realized I wanted to shift and embrace my passion for design. I attended the Graphic Design program at Otis and have never looked back. I can’t imagine life now without design.

What fuels your creativity?
I am inspired by the things around me, what I see, trends that are happening and I take all of these things to create my designs.

What defines a good from a great client for you?
A good client will hire professionals like myself to help them grow their business. They welcome ideas and learn from industry experts. However, a great client will trust your expertise and someone who gives you creative freedom. A great client is also someone who goes with the creative process and will have a sense of direction on what they want to accomplish. This makes it easier to design a concept without guessing what they are looking for.

What defines a terrible client for you?
There are some challenges with difficult clients and some of the signs are not usually about miscommunication or not seeing eye to eye on things. If I am giving recommendations and it’s not taken into account that could hinder the process. If the client is disrespectful then it would just not work out.

What makes you different from competitors/peers in your field?
I am always trying to learn and challenge myself to be better everyday. I take a genuine approach, make sure that I am understanding my consumers well and give my own perspective to each design.

How would you describe your style?
I love to experiment with colors, adding in illustrations and abstract shapes. My work is playful and it is best represented in my project for Hotel Machizo. It is playful but still has that modern feel of a trendy boutique hotel.

What trends are you seeing in your field right now (or to come)?
I am seeing a heavy use of AI as a tool to create designs and mockups for clients. 3D is also continually growing but there is also a resurgence for the nostalgia and going back to designs of the past.

Why do you like working with No Revisions?
I like the model because it clearly outlines different packages that clients can choose from. I also love the idea of being able to process work without external revisions.
